The valley station of the Resciesa Funicular is located on the sunny side of Ortisei. From Piazza S. Antonio in the center, you can take the 'La Curta' escalator and tunnel system towards the Seceda cable car. From there, it's a well-signposted 5-10 minute walk uphill to reach the funicular station. The ride to the summit takes about 8 minutes, whisking you up to an altitude of over 2,200 meters into the Puez-Odle Nature Park.

Activities on Resciesa

  • Summer Hiking: From the mountain station, numerous trails fan out across the alpine pasture. A popular, family-friendly walk is the relatively flat path (Trail No. 35) to the Rifugio Resciesa and the historic Holy Cross Chapel, offering magnificent views of the Sassolungo, Sella, and Sciliar mountains.
  • Winter Tobogganing: In winter, Resciesa boasts a scenic toboggan run that stretches for several kilometers down the mountain. The run goes from the top station to a middle station, allowing you to take the funicular back up and repeat the fun.
  • Photography: The plateau is renowned for its panoramic vistas, making it a prime spot for photographers, especially the view of the Sassolungo group.
Warning

If you plan to go tobogganing, you must rent your sled at the valley station of the Resciesa Funicular *before* you go up. There are no rental facilities at the top.
