It is the single most common question we get at the ticket counter: “Should I buy the full Dolomiti Superski pass, or just the local valley pass?”
In previous years, the price gap was significant. But for the 2026 High Season, the math has tightened. The difference between unlocking 1,200km of slopes and being stuck in one valley is now less than the cost of a pizza. Here is the honest math for the 2026 Season, including a 5% “Online Hack” that might solve the debate for you instantly.
The Short Answer
-
The “No-Brainer” Rule: For a 6-day trip, the price difference at the counter is ~€32.00. However, if you buy the Superski pass online, the difference drops to a tiny ~€10.00. If you plan to leave your home valley (e.g., ski the Sellaronda) for even ONE day, buy the Dolomiti Superski.
-
The Only Exception: If you are a complete beginner or a family with small children who will strictly stay on the nursery slopes of Alpe di Siusi or the village practice lifts, buy the Local Valley Pass.

The “Online Hack” (-5% Discount)
This is the most important tip in this article. If you buy your ski pass online at least 2 days in advance, you get an automatic 5% discount.
This changes the math completely:
- Counter Price (Local): ~€404.00
- Online Price (Superski): ~€414.00 (Discounted from €436)
By purchasing online, the “upgrade cost” to unlock the entire Dolomites drops to just ~€10.00 for the whole week. At that price point, limiting yourself to one valley makes almost no sense.
The “One-Day Upgrade” Trap
If you ignore the online discount and buy the Local Pass at the counter, you face a risk. If you decide mid-week, “Hey, the weather is great, let’s ski the Sellaronda today!”, you cannot just “upgrade” your ticket for the difference.
You generally have to buy a 1-Day Dolomiti Superski Pass, which costs €86.00 in high season.
The Math of Regret:
- Scenario A (Smart): You buy Superski Online upfront. Total: €414.
- Scenario B (Regret): You buy Local (€404) + 1 Day Superski (€86). Total: €490.
The Verdict: Skiing outside your valley for just one day costs you €76.00 extra compared to just buying the Superski pass online initially.
Important: Kids & Seniors
The math changes slightly for families, but the rules are generous:
- Kids Ski Free (Under 8): Children born after 01/01/2018 get a FREE ski pass of the same type as the accompanying adult. If you buy a Superski pass, your child gets a free Superski pass.
- Juniors (-30%): Born 2008–2017 receive a ~30% discount.
- Seniors (-10%): Born before 1960 receive a ~10% discount.
Who Should Buy the Local Pass?
The Local Pass is not a “bad” product. It is fantastic for specific skiers:
- First-Time Beginners: If you are learning snowplow on the practice slopes in Ortisei or Selva, you will not be skiing to Alta Badia. Save the money.
- Families with Small Kids: If you are spending your week in Alpe di Siusi, strictly enjoying the sunny blue runs and huts, the local pass is perfect. You have 175km of slopes just in Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi—more than enough for a relaxed week.
- Short Trips (1-2 Days): If you are only here for a weekend and strictly plan to stay in one zone.
We see this every week: Skiers buy the Local Pass, then try to ski the Sellaronda (Orange or Green loop). It won’t work. The turnstiles at the pass borders (e.g., Passo Gardena, Passo Sella) will strictly block you. You will be stuck at the top of a mountain needing to buy a new ticket to get home.
Our Verdict
For 95% of visitors staying for a full week in Selva, Santa Cristina, or Corvara, the Dolomiti Superski is the clear winner.
The Strategy: Buy the Dolomiti Superski pass online 48 hours before you arrive. You will pay almost the same price as the local counter rate (only ~€10 difference), but you will have the freedom to ski 1,200km of slopes, chase the sun, and enjoy the Sellaronda without boundaries.
